RVA is looking for a talented Communications and Social Media Specialist to join their growing marketing team on a full-time permanent basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant (i.e., Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Business, New Media, or Public Relations) bachelor’s degree (minimum) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of related communications and/or marketing experience required.
  • Industry knowledge and experience would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent writing / copy editing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Creative writing with an understanding of technical writing.
  • Engage, build, and maintain community management including brand community, connecting brand values, targeted audiences, employees / teams, and stakeholders with brand messaging and external exposure, interacting both online and offline. Create network of loyalists and collaborators and enhance the brand’s public perception. Drive engagement, get involved, and perform investigative research and interviewing for content creation / copy development as needed.
  • Create and execute external communications such as social media posts, marcom / PR campaigns, press releases / company news, website news features / profiles / copy, and additional items as needed including but not limited to interviews, blogs, articles, mailers, and media kits. Requires copywriting and /or copy editing.
  • Create and execute internal communications such as marcom portal (intranet) posts / campaigns, communiqués, and all staff messaging. Includes supporting leadership with copywriting and editing communications as needed.
  • Manage and maintain media communications including brand messaging, website and social media accounts and content, calendars, requests, and best practices. Develop improved processes and value add along the way.
  • Work with marketing team in the brainstorming and development of content pertaining to copywriting / editing for marcom assets.
  • Work with leadership in the brainstorming and development of campaigning, sponsorships, and promoting / cross promoting through the creation and execution of strategic communications plans aligned with applicable marcom strategies and programs as well as corporate brand and strategic business plans.
  • Identify and brainstorm media opportunities through the monitoring of marketing provided analytics and research, in addition to communications research and analysis (i.e., monitoring competitor activity, news alerts, public opinion, and social media trends / activities); as well as performing background market and industry research and competitor analysis where needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining positive brand awareness including accurate brand messaging and reputation management ensuring public image remains positive while handling relationship management in media outlets.
  • Develop relationship with media outlets and other key stakeholders for intelligence gathering and interviewing for strategic profiling, spotlighting, sponsorships, and campaigning.
  • Work with leadership, risk, and legal to develop and implement proactive and damage control public relations strategies to shape and protect company image.
  • Working knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Other duties as required.
