Description:

WHO WE ARE

The Institute for Ecological Civilization (EcoCiv) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that promotes civilizational change for the long-term wellbeing of people and the planet. EcoCiv has worked in 13 countries to date designing and scaling solutions toward long-term sustainability. We conduct research, convene experts, and promote the adoption of transformative solutions to key global issues. We then help implement these solutions through engagement at local and global levels. EcoCiv currently focuses on sustainable access to water, food, agriculture, and economic systems. Much of our work supports exemplary on-the-ground projects by leaders and NGOs in the majority world and in disinvested communities in the United States.

THE POSITION

The Communications Associate is a 20-30 hour per week (non-exempt) remote position. We seek a gifted writer and creative designer with nonprofit experience to assist in communicating EcoCiv’s mission and impact, growing brand awareness, and engaging with EcoCiv’s audience.
This role is pivotal in enhancing our online presence via diverse communication channels. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting, designing, and scheduling content across various social media platforms, supporting the development and promotion of podcast series, and facilitating meaningful online exchanges. Additionally, the Communications Associate will coordinate with project teams to produce engaging content for our social media platforms, quarterly newsletter, blogs, podcasts, and website. A key focus of this role will be supporting a project aimed at building the capacity of specific NGOs working on water security in Ghana, Uganda, and Ethiopia. The associate will work closely with these NGOs to enhance their communications strategies across various areas, including social media, content creation, and stakeholder engagement.
We are looking for a creative thinker who can brainstorm innovative ideas to strengthen our organizational messaging and branding. This role requires a team player who can effectively collaborate in a remote work environment, track communications metrics, and provide regular reports on our outreach efforts. If you are passionate about environmental sustainability and possess strong writing and graphic design skills, we encourage you to apply and contribute to our mission of building a more just and ecologically sustainable civilization.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Communications Manager and Water Program Director in powerfully conveying EcoCiv’s vision, mission, and impact across programs.
