Description:

Working at Transurban is different; it’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city-sized solutions—building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads—to solve pressing transport challenges to keep our cities moving.
About the role
We’re seeking a switched-on communications professional to join our Queensland Corporate Affairs function in the role of Communications Coordinator.
In this busy, fast paced role, you’ll be responsible for supporting communications and engagement activities on projects, initiatives and campaigns for Transurban’s Queensland business. You’ll work closely with the Corporate Affairs function to provide support and coordination across a variety of activities.
As our Communications Coordinator, contribute to lasting changes that shape the future of cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging, and exciting work.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Assist in the delivery of engaging communications campaigns to support corporate objectives.
  • Draft and distribute content for internal and external use. This can include key messaging, media responses, stakeholder queries, meeting minutes, reports, traffic alerts, online and social media content, presentations and whatever else the team might need.
  • Assist with the coordination and planning of corporate events and sponsorship opportunities. As well as photography/videography requirements such as organising shoots, coordinating approvals and uploading to digital libraries.
  • Develop and maintain relationships across the Transurban business as well as with external stakeholders including the community, customers and industry representatives.
  • Support the development of speeches and briefing notes for industry and government engagement.

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, with the proven ability to take complex technical information and translate into simplified terms.
  • Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, marketing or something of a similar discipline.
  • You’ll have exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritise, organise and plan for yourself and others.
  • You’ll possess the ability to write for a variety of mediums such as radio, social media, newspaper, community notifications, reports, presentations and whatever else might come up.
  • You’re proactive when it comes to solving problems and are confident to go out and find solutions on your own.
  • Ability to develop and then maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people across our business and with external stakeholders.
  • You’ll enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, where no two days are the same.
  • High level of organisational and administrative skills.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s licence or ability to obtain a licence to drive to meetings and events
  • IAP2 certification well regarded.

If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.

With a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:

  • A range of flexible working and leave options, including the option to purchase an additional six weeks of leave each year
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status), with no waiting period, with Superannuation paid during unpaid leave as well
  • Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests
  • Health and wellbeing support—access to Headspace and our EAP program, wellness facilities, and more
  • Share offers and insurance benefits
  • Social activities, community give-back programs and paid volunteer days

We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.
We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion; where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience – whether they work for us or not. We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe to express ideas, questions and concerns.
We strongly encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people living with disability. If you require any adjustments or support during the recruitment process, please contact us on
