    The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
    Position Summary
    The Office of Academic Affairs in the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) aims to support CUIMC faculty so that they may lead successful and fulfilling careers at CUIMC. The office works with over 9,500 faculty and researchers across the four-health science schools of the medical center: the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S), the Mailman School of Public Health, the College of Dental Medicine and the School of Nursing.
    Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President for Faculty Professional Development, Diversity and Inclusion and Operations for CUIMC and working closely with the Academic Affairs and OFPDDI team, the Communications and Project Manager provides communications, outreach, and project management oversight for the programs and initiatives of the Office of Faculty Professional Development, Diversity and Inclusion, as well as those of the Senior Vice President for Faculty Affairs and Career Development for CUIMC/Vice Dean for Academic Affairs.
    Programs and initiatives seek to enhance and facilitate the careers of Health Sciences faculty through workshops, seminars, working groups, mentorship programs, and other programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the communications strategy for the CUIMC Office of Faculty Professional Development, Diversity and Inclusion including:
  • Developing, coordinating and supporting communications efforts for the office and its initiatives.
  • Managing communications calendar and liaising with other offices and departments who wish to send communications to CUIMC faculty and researchers
  • Developing templates and best practices for managing internal communications
  • Managing and maintaining office websites
  • Managing the OFPDDI LinkedIn account
  • Developing and managing the quarterly newsletter sent out for the Office of Academic Affairs
  • Providing oversight and project management of Sharepoint sites and online materials
  • Maintaining and updating reports on programming and initiatives
  • Managing professional development programs as assigned by the AVP for Faculty Professional Development, Diversity and Inclusion including coordinating and supporting logistics (virtual or in-person), working with faculty deans and speakers on materials, developing enduring materials, etc.
  • Providing administrative support for the Office of Academic Affairs including providing phone support backup, coordinating event needs, and other tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and equivalent in education and experience plus four years of related experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are required.
  • Demonstrated day to day office/departmental skills required.
  • Experience with online communications a must.
  • Must have experience with planning, event coordination, and service orientation.

Must be able to maintain confidentiality, remain compose under pressure, work in a fast-paced environment, work collaboratively with other members of the team, coordinate multiple projects with competing priorities, and be detail-oriented. The incumbent must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively, take a proactive approach to projects and anticipate needs. Must have flexibility to work extended hours when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. Minimum of four years related experience required. Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills required including composing and editing documents, developing reports, developing marketing materials and website strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal communicating with staff, faculty and partners.
