Description:

Are you looking to take the next step in your Communications career? We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled copywriter or an experienced communications individual to join the Nuffield Department of Medicine’s (NDM) Communications team. The team is working to increase the awareness and positive perception of the Department among target audiences (including funders, policymakers, the media, partners and the public) as well as positioning the Department as an excellent place to work to prospective staff and students.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, your main role will be to ensure the ongoing delivery of targeted and meaningful communications content for NDM’s channels, tailored to the respective audience and channel. In practice this means gathering scientific papers and announcements from internal stakeholders and turning them into more accessible stories for the departmental website and social media.
Full training will be provided on NDM’s custom content management system and social media platform, but the successful candidate will already have experience with comparable systems. You will have demonstrable experience of communications activities, in particular copywriting as well as having proven experience in producing effective web and social content. Your attention to detail and writing skills will be second to none, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to a non-specialist audience.
The Nuffield Department of Medicine is friendly, welcoming and keen to engage with the many challenges and opportunities that arise in our world-leading, internationally recognised department. This role offers the opportunity to thrive in a diverse role in a supported environment.
This is a part-time role, with the expectation that the agreed hours will be delivered within core operating hours (8am-6pm) and on site for one day (or two half days). However, there is flexibility in how the hours are delivered e.g. as full working days for part of the week or half days over the whole week.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
This position is offered part time on a fixed term contract for 2 years and is funded by the Department.
Only applications received before 12 midday on Monday 15 July 2024 will be considered. Interviews will be held on 24th & 25th July. Please quote 173053 on all correspondence.
