JOB OVERVIEW:

Communications Operator provides communication service by operating a telephone console within the current PBX in order to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls as well as relaying the proper page information throughout the health system.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• High School Diploma

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

• Day Shift
• Per Diem

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Answers in-house calls for page requests and announcements.
• Answers outside calls and relays the proper information.
• Clearly announces over the paging system for easy understanding.
• Demonstrates complete knowledge of console equipment.
• Demonstrates the ability to screen calls and relay to the proper
• Handles telephone calls and requests with proper etiquette.
• Interacts with proper personnel when there is a system problem.
• Maintains proper log of calls processed.
• Pages all emergency codes properly (Code Blue, Code Red, Code Gray, etc),
• Supplies in-coming calls with proper information when no connection.
• Uses in-house beeper system properly.
• Verifies accuracy of equipment and reports malfunctions.
