The Communications Specialist helps us reach the hearts and minds of our employees with communication experiences that shift behaviors to support and drive long-term business strategy.
In this role, you support the successful creation, development, and execution of communications strategies and associated materials that connect our people and help employees understand their role in bringing Stantec’s Strategic Plan and brand to life.
You will be working in close partnership with Infrastructure Business Leaders, Functional Service Team (FST) partners and Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations (MCPR) colleagues to help keep our Infrastructure employees informed, engaged, and inspired.
This role works in a fast-paced, complex environment with competing demands, requiring a high level of initiative, efficiency, accuracy, flexibility, confidentiality, and discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support effective communications plans including creative campaign concepts, implementation plans, and timelines.
- Identify and frame key issues and messages by gathering, analyzing, and integrating conflicting and sometimes incomplete information from numerous sources.
- Communicate information to a variety of audiences to persuade, convince, build support, educate, change behaviour, and promote understanding with others.
- Write communication content including but not limited to email copy, intranet articles, blogs, video briefs, etc. Adapt content for a variety of mediums.
- Accurately assess, prioritize, and manage multiple project demands.
- Monitor and measure the delivery of internal communications through different communications channels.
- Partner with Stantec’s graphic design and/or video teams as required to develop supporting visual/multimedia aids to support key communications (e.g., infographics, videos).
- Publish content on Stantec’s intranet and support other internal communications platforms as required (e.g., Yammer, Teams).
- Coordinate and create content for internal information sessions such as Town Halls and large events.
- Support key initiatives and internal programs with creative and compelling content.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Post-secondary degree in communications, public relations, English, journalism, or marketing.
- 5 years’ experience working in a communications-related role (agency experience or professional services industry experience preferred)
Other Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing environments
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a team, as well as independently and with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated proficiency with Web-based tools and Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer
