Description:

ONE KIDS PLACE – Children’s Treatment Centre provides rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19) and their families living in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound. All staff will provide service within an interdisciplinary team environment committed to family-centered practice.
POSITION: Communicative Disorders Assistant (18 month contract until July 2025)
LOCATION: North Bay

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Communicative Disorders Assistant Diploma
  • Two years of recent related work experience in a pediatric/health care setting with children and youth with special needs
  • Working knowledge of community resources and supports within the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment under the supervision of assigned Speech Language Pathologists
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills/Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable vehicle
  • Computer competency and adaptable in the use of computer software for the purpose of assessments, documentation , and communication
  • Good attendance/Work record
  • Bilingual (English/French) is preferred
  • Proof of COVID Vaccinations as required by the sector
    COMPENSATION: $24.91 - $29.40 hourly (depending on prior experience as per our Collective Agreement).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diplôme d’assistant en troubles de communication
  • Expérience de travail pertinente au cours des deux dernières années dans un contexte pédiatrique ou de soins de santé, auprès des enfants et des jeunes ayant des besoins particuliers
  • Connaissance pratique des ressources et des soutiens communautaires dans les districts de Muskoka, Nipissing et Parry Sound
  • Capacité de travailler au sein d’une équipe pluridisciplinaire sous la supervision d’orthophonistes
  • Excellentes compétences de relations interpersonnelles, d’organisation et de communication verbale et écrite
  • Permis de conduire de l’Ontario en vigueur et véhicule fiable
  • Maîtrise de l’utilisation de logiciels et capacité de s’adapter pour effectuer des évaluations, préparer des documents, effectuer de la programmation et communiquer.
  • Bonne assiduité et un bon dossier de travail
  • Le bilinguisme (français/anglais) est préféré
  • Preuve de vaccinations contre COVID-19, tela que requis par le secteur
    RÉMUNÉRATION : 24,91$ - 29,40$ par heure (selon l’expérience antérieure).

Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Communicative Disorders Assistant will work under the supervision of assigned Speech Language Pathologists to ensure coordinated delivery of rehabilitation services within an interdisciplinary, family-centered environment. Assistants will be responsible for: implementing therapy programs; providing training to children, youth and their parents; and ensuring documentation is consistent with agency standards.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Prepare therapy and education materials to support screening, assessment and intervention
  • Support the recommendations made by supervising Speech Language Pathologists in the implementation of therapy programs
  • Assist the Speech Language Pathologist in training of children, youth and their parents or other support personnel
  • Provide fun intervention and innovative therapy activities to target communication goals based on the child’s interests and abilities
  • Provide evidence-based therapy intervention while tracking progress with proper documentation
  • Other duties as assigned
