Description:

10-MONTH POSITION

Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 27,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. With a dedicated staff of more than 2,900, Grand Erie is committed to learning, leading and inspiring. The Education Centre is located in Brantford. The Board is currently seeking a 0.5 FTE 10-month CDA to join our team.

Qualifications:

  • Post-Graduate Diploma as a Communicative Disorders Assistant required (verification is required)
  • Must be able to perform duties in a confidential manner and develop and maintain positive relationships
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and various software (Office 365, email, software supporting Speech-Language programs, One Note)
  • Reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license for daily travel to a variety of work sites required
  • Familiarity with the tiered approach to intervention in a school board setting an asse

Responsibilities:

Under the administrative supervision of the School and Program Support Lead with clinical supervision from a Speech-Language Pathologist, the successful candidate will provide programming support to students who have speech and language needs in a tiered approach to intervention and administer articulation screening tests as required. The successful candidate will collect data to document intervention progress and will maintain intervention records and assist with report writing. The ability to work collaboratively with the System Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to keep individual student’s hearing aids and/or FM systems in good working along with encouraging students to become self-motivated in speech and language are other requirements of the job. The successful candidate will have to develop and maintain communication channels with Principals and teachers to help meet the Speech and Language needs of individual students along with completing any other duties as assigned.
