JOB DESCRIPTION

    Hume City Council is one of Australia’s fastest growing and culturally diverse councils. We put the customer and our community at the centre of all that we do, ensuring our services are efficient and accessible.
    Sucessfull applicant will lead two community Centres in the Kalkallo area - Kalkallo Community Centre and Kalkallo North Community Centre. Hours are from 8:30am-5pm.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in community development/recreation with relevant experience in the community sector and/or community development/recreation work or lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • Level 2 First Aid

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of Strategic Plans for the Community Centres to deliver a consistent, high quality, accessible facility and services that meet the priorities of the local community.
  • Oversight of and updating of a Centre Operational Manual.
  • Ensure the facility is maintained to a high standard and any maintenance and OHS issues are dealt with promptly through liaison with the Council’s Building Maintenance Unit.
  • Participate in an afterhours/weekend on call roster to respond to any facility hirer emergency issues.
  • Work collaboratively with Council staff, to maximise best use of Council expertise and resources for the benefit of the tenants and local community.
  • Ensure all Centre occupancy and licence agreements are managed and reviewed in accordance with Council’s requirements.
  • Plan, develop and implement Centre programs, services and activities in partnership with community groups, service providers and residents and in response to identified community need.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader Business Development and Promotions to develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies and campaigns for the Centres in accordance with Council’s Marketing and Communication policies and practices.
  • Develop and maintain an effective communication system between the Early Years team, M&CH, Council Officers, tenants, customers of the Centres and the public.
  • Develop and manage appropriate systems to ensure effective and efficient day-to-day administration including general correspondence, purchasing, document management, collation of data and reports.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the management and operation of a community facility.
  • Demonstrated experience, understanding and commitment to community development practice and principles.
  • Demonstrated financial management and high level administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to staff and manage complex relationships and projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing time, setting priorities and managing a number of tasks or projects simultaneously, so as to achieve a broad range of outcomes with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and in written form to a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
