SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Liaison with funding bodies, community leaders, residents, and service providers
- Grant application preparation and program administration experience
- Creating collaborative environments
- Volunteering program management
- Diverse background work experience
- Community Centre or Neighbourhood House experience (highly desirable)
- Community engagement skills for amplifying community voice
- Crisis management, problem-solving, and de-escalation abilities
- Assessment, group work, and evaluation skills
- Negotiation and communication prowess
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Social Sciences, Community Development, or related qualifications or equivalent experience (essential)
- Workplace Training and Assessment Certificate (desirable)
- SA Driver’s Licence
- Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and National Police Clearance (essential)
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Community Development and Engagement experience

Responsibilities:
ROLE OVERVIEW:
Join us in a dynamic role at the Whyalla Community Centre as a Community Development Officer! Lead initiatives to enhance community well-being, participation, and capacity. Deliver engaging courses and activities, shaping a vibrant hub that meets local needs. Forge partnerships for impactful programmes. Make a real difference!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage the community in program development and improvement.
- Ensure diverse courses and services meet Whyalla’s needs.
- Provide participants with info and referrals as needed.
- Arrange courses aligning with community needs and funding criteria.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive Centre environment.
- Report on service outcomes.
- Collaborate with CYFS Program Manager to develop the Centre model.
- Establish Centre policies with CYFS Program Manager input.
- Apply for funding, evaluate grants, and report in line with requirements.
- Manage volunteer program.
- Contribute to management meetings and planning activities.
- Engage in personal and career development discussions with CYFS Manager.
