Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing, and support services. We employ more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania.

Responsibilities:

YOUR NEW ROLE

We are currently seeking a proactive individual to join our Housing and Homelessness Team as a Community Development Worker (office based in Bellerive) on a Full time Basis. This Fixed term role will run form the 26th of June 2024 to the 30th of June 2026.
This engaging position will have a strong focus on working with our tenant community to promote individual capacity building, social inclusion, and identifying capabilities within the broader community to provide opportunities for self-growth
The role will also work within our Housing and Homelessness program, promoting inclusive and healthy neighbourhoods, celebrating cultural diversity and creativity, and enhancing social connections. We are looking for someone who will be involved in the development and implementation of ‘the client voice’ project, which will influence and guide our processes and service delivery.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Develop and maintain excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Provide a leading role in contributing to community development and tenant engagement across southern Tasmania
  • Assist in the development and delivery of sustainable activities and programs across Southern Tasmania
  • Provide support and guidance to groups and/or individuals in developing and implementing community building activities and ongoing programs
  • Where applicable, facilitate the integration of community development initiatives into existing programs and strategies – internal and external
  • As required work in collaboration with government; non-government agencies and business in the development and implementation of projects that address identified need
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of data, and evaluation of service provision
  • Development of progress reports to management and funding bodies as required
  • Facilitate a continuous quality improvement approach to all work
  • Act as a champion for community development and seek opportunities to promote the Wintringham values
  • Keep up to date with research and knowledge around innovative and best practice methods to promote inclusion, engagement, and participation
  • Keep abreast of funding rounds and contribute to grant applications
