About the role
We are seeking a values-driven Community Engagement Worker who will work with the Maroochydore Salvos Team to develop, facilitate and deliver quality needs-based community programs to engage the community with Maroochydore Salvos and build support for the achievement of The Salvation Army mission. Build relationships with key internal & external stakeholders to develop, deliver and assess relevant community-based activities that effectively meet the needs of the local community.

You will successfully

  • Relationship building and development of community support and partnerships.
  • Develop new initiatives and activities that meet needs in our community that align with our mission
  • Be responsible for existing community ministries and activities and (in consultation with the Corps Officer and Maroochydore Salvos Team) develop new and innovative community engagement activities.
  • Get alongside and seek to encourage, equip and empower people in crisis through engagement in Maroochydore Salvos community activities and referrals to Salvation Army and other community service providers.
  • Help build a team of community engagement volunteers who are mobilised to support all community engagement ministries.

You will have

  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services/Social Work – minimum certificate level, or relevant experience or
  • Experience in community engagement on behalf of a religious institution or not-for-profit organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and running community-based activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate with community partners and community members.
  • Current WWCC - Blue Card QLD

This is a permanent, part-time (22.8hrs per week) position located in Maroochydore, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 3.
