Job Title : Community Liaison Officer
Reports to: The Director of Reaching Home and Urban Inuit in the President’s Department.
Location: Montréal
Status of Employment: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: According to the Salary Scale

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma;
  • Good communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
  • Good computer skills : Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Extended knowledge of Inuit values and practices;
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability;
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
  • Able to work as a team leader;
  • Experience in social issues and services;
  • Security Clearance, required.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing community presence to maintain services for the Inuit population, meet with Makivvik’s partners in Montreal: Chez Doris, Native Women Centre, The Open Door, Projects Autochthones Québec (PAQ) and Southern Quebec Inuit Association (SQIA), Air Inuit, Canadian North, CIUSS, Airport Security and Police Service. Will be the link between the Frontline Workers and organizations mentioned above;
  • The Inuit Urban Liaison Officer will act as the middle person for homeless and vulnerable individuals with other organisations to resolve issues and improve communication, as well as an effective approach to achieve utilization of resources and/or services;
  • The Liaison Officer will support the Frontline Workers, when shelters, re-booking flights, beneficiary cards and other services are needed. Will also find replacements if someone from the team takes a day off or holidays and make sure Dayforce time sheets are completed. During the workday, he/she visit frontline workers in their sectors, to give updates or feedback from the team;
  • Keep up-dated information on culturally appropriate services, programs, and activities for urban Inuit;
  • Participate to committees and meetings with regards to the improvement of the quality of life of Inuit in Montreal;
  • Identifying any issues that arise for which decisions are required;
  • Be available to travel, as needed, throughout the island of Montréal and the suburbs;
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.
