The Saskatchewan Archaeological Society (SAS) is seeking two (2) post-secondary students to assist us in the delivery of archaeology services to communities throughout Saskatchewan. This includes providing archeological educational programming as well as working with artifact collections. Applicants should have public speaking experience and be comfortable working with diverse audiences.
Qualifications: • must be a current post-secondary student in Archaeology/Anthropology, Museum Studies, Indigenous Studies, History or a closely related field (Master’s program is preferred but experienced BA or BSc’s students will be considered) • familiarity with Saskatchewan archaeology • public speaking ability • computer competency in Word, Excel, and Outlook • energetic, motivated self-directed but capable of working in a team setting • excellent communication and organizational skills • willingness to travel
In order to meet Young Canada Works-Summer Jobs eligibility requirements, all candidates must demonstrate that they: • are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible); • are legally entitled to work in Canada; • are between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment; • are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment; • will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) during the Young Canada Works work assignment; • have been a full-time high school, college, CEGEP or university student (as defined by their educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW work assignment; and • intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW work assignment.
