Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen from a highly motivated and dynamic dietitian to join the Paediatric service in Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB). Whilst some experience in Paediatrics is desirable, interest and passion to improving the health of Powys children is more important, and tailored training and support will be available. Candidates with less experience, but with excellent personal qualities and a positive attitude are welcomed. Masters level study can be funded alongside clinical supervision, within an agreed framework, to develop skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and excellent communication skills are key.
PTHB is an innovative employer in the heart of Wales.
The Dietetics service provides support for the Powys community striving to deliver evidence and patient centered care within Wales AHP’s Strategic Framework. You will be supported by the Professional Head of Service who works closely with other Therapy Leads to maintain the strong multi-disciplinary focus.
There has been considerable investment in PTHB technology to support remote working in response both to the Covid-19 pandemic and rurality of Wales, and to minimize unnecessary travel. This has included the rollout of software to enable electronic records and video consultations when appropriate, although we aim to offer CYP some F2F appointments to support safeguarding strategy.
The successful candidate will be supported by administrators and an assistant, and will run general, CMPA and HEF paediatric clinics. There is ample opportunity to develop the service including CYP Weight Strategy, Building a Healthier Wales, ARFID and disordered eating, and the enteral feed contract. We also provides expert nutritional care to adult inpatients, outpatients, stroke & dialysis units, HEF patients, group DM and weight services, the team working collaboratively with shared goals. We embrace student training in collaboration with Cardiff University, and a culture to ‘grow our own’ professionals.
To act as part of the Dietetic team for the delivery of a comprehensive service to Powys. The post holder will work within the British Dietetic Association Professional Code of conduct and Professional Standards of Practice, and the HCPC code of conduct.
To be responsible for the continued delivery of an evidence-based nutrition and dietetic service. This will include outpatient clinics, ward visits, nursing home visits and telephone calls.
Prioritise patients in caseload and signpost as appropriate to other specialist services and/or agencies for ongoing treatment.
To work autonomously to provide an expert nutrition advice service to patients, their carers and families and to other healthcare professional colleagues and those from other agencies. This requires the collation of highly complex information in relation to both health and social care
Being the smallest Heath Board in Wales means that you won’t get lost in the crowd. Everybody at Powys Teaching Health Board is valued for the contribution they make to our varied and diverse portfolio of community-based services. Together, we can continue to make a real difference to our patients and build on our unrivalled reputation.
As a supportive and progressive employer, we actively encourage you to carve out a career with us, through a range of development pathways. We’re also lucky enough to be situated in one of the most beautiful rural counties in Britain, let alone Wales! Achieving a healthy ’life work’ balance is essential, and something we recognise by prioritising your well-being.
