We are looking for someone who understands the needs of our community, is a great communicator and is excellent at building positive relationships. It would be an advantage if you also have experience working with young people, and for local or central government.
To be successful in the role, the preferred skills, experience and knowledge includes:
- experience working with community groups
- proven project and contract management skills
- knowledge of tikanga Māori and te reo Māori is desirable along with a commitment to working with the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
- an understanding of issues facing our communities of greatest need
- high level written and verbal communication skills
- a degree in community development, social policy or a related area or similar experience

Responsibilities:
KŌ TĒNEI TŪRANGA MAHI | ABOUT THIS ROLE
Join a team with a strong reputation for supporting our local community groups.
As part of a team linking Council with community, you will be supporting Councils Youth Council alongside support for community groups to deliver activities to improve social outcomes for Nelson’s Communities of Greatest Need. From developing concepts and ideas, through to leading and supporting multiple projects alongside other agencies, this role is key in developing and maintaining strong relationships with community groups.
In addition to supporting programme implementation, you will evaluate progress and results and ensure social objectives are achieved within budget.
