Description:
The Community Recreation Manager provides direct assistance in the daily operation, administration, and implementation of year-round, community recreation and cultural events, and the scheduling of City parks and public school facilities for athletic and recreation uses. Provides leadership and support in assuring standards and requirements of the program are met. Work is varied and fast moving, requiring prompt analysis and decisions within established procedures. This job requires good working relations with professional and non-professional staff involved in the day-to-day operation, administration maintenance of public facilities and recreation areas. Supervision received includes weekly meetings with the Recreation & Cultural Affairs Director to monitor programs’ compliance with established policies, procedures, and progress in the implementation of goals and objectives and identifying needs of the program. The Community Recreation Manager monitors assigned program staff and special projects such as art in public buildings, and other work by volunteers. Provides administrative support to the Chelsea Youth Commission and Community Recreation Advisory Board and assists with related programs and activities when requested. Work requires independent judgment, positive attitude, team spirit and personal initiative. The Manager is required to work a flexible schedule, which includes mid-day schedule starts, nights, and rotating weekend days. This is driven by the calendar and seasonal events that will vary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Recreation Administration, Arts Administration, Sports Management, Education, or an equivalent combination of education, training and years of experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in human services, education, recreation program development and implementation.
- Minimum of one (1) year work experience with registration or workflow automation software.
