The role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi:
The Older Adults Community Support Services is responsible for engaging and supporting people (aged 65 and over) who have mental health challenges and live in the Auckland and Waitemata District. The service offers individual community-based support and group-based programmes (e.g. social groups, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy) to promote positive ageing in place, enhance social connections, and navigate access to services.
As a Community Support Worker (CSW), you’ll be working autonomously with our Tangata whai ora (service users), supporting them to engage and remain in their chosen community and helping them to work on self-directed goals, maintain well-being and achieve their fullest potential and quality of life.
The role also involves collaboratively working with the whānau/family and working under the multi-disciplinary framework with the Community Mental Health Centres.
You | Mōu:

We are looking for individuals who share our values and have commitment and passion for supporting people in their communities. You will also:

  • Have the ability to work individually and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Have an understanding of the challenges Older People encounter and the concepts of ageing-in-place.
  • Have experience working with people living with Dementia Mate Wareware and their whānau/family, or willing to learn and develop.
  • Hold a clean full NZ driver’s license.
  • Hold the New Zealand Level 4 Certificate in Health and Well-being (or recognised equivalent) or be willing to commence study towards this qualification within 6 months of employment.
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal and advocacy skills.
  • Strong technology skills, must be experienced in using Microsoft Office products and familiar with databases.
  • Have a sound knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and be able to demonstrate bicultural concepts in practice, or willing to learn. If you speak Te Reo Māori it is bonus!
  • An interest in Māori and Pasifika people’s customs and cultural norms.
