Job Title: Community Support Worker
Job Location: Auckland
Employment Type: Permanent Full time (30+ Hours) or Part Time (Up to 29 Hours)
Days of work: As this is community-based work, rotating rosters would be involved and covering evening, night and weekend work is a Must. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.
Pay Band: $23.38 - $29.10 per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement by the Ministry of Health – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity).
We are looking for someone who can predominantly cover the following Auckland areas:
Warkworth, Totara Vale, Takapuna and Mount Eden
The ideal candidate would be comfortable covering night shifts, which would include overnight (awake) shifts and weekend work. Overnight shifts are 10 - 7:30 or 11 - 7.
If successful you will be joining a team of skilled staff, working within a positive, calm and supportive environment.
In this role, you will be supporting families to care for infants and children with specific medical needs at home and in the hospital (where required). The ideal candidate will be a confident and clear communicator and will be prepared to complete duties that support the client. These duties may include cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and accompanying on outings and appointments.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the client with personal care, feeding and medical care
  • Supporting exercise programmes
  • Moving and handling using hoists and manual transfers
  • Assisting the client to access the community with parents
  • Hospital care when inpatient in the Auckland Starship Hospital

The ideal candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):

  • Experience working with infants and children (this may be in education, as a nanny, your own family circle, or in other environments)
  • Demonstrated ability to care for an infant and child, including play and support for their appropriate age
  • Willingness to support families in a way that meets their needs
  • Experience in assisting infants and children with their personal cares is desired
  • Access to your own car and a Full Driver’s License is a requirement of the role (as this is community based work)
  • Flexibility to work on roster (including weekends is a must)
  • Great communication skills
  • Legal Right to work in NZ
