Job Description:

Microchip seeks a motivated software development engineer to join our worldwide Development Systems organization. A successful candidate will be interested in the concepts central to C/C++ compiler development for bare-metal embedded systems. As part of Microchip’s Development Tools team, your primary responsibilities would be to:

• Provide work to specification, as assigned
• Willing to be mentored to learn compiler development
• Design and develop new features for our C/C++ compiler toolchains, which target bare-metal embedded microcontrollers
• Provide engineering support to internal/external customers
• Collaborate with team members across international time zones

Requirements/Qualifications:

Requirements:

• A Bachelors majoring in Software Engineering or Computer Science and three years of experience in software development
• Strong interest in learning compiler technologies
• Demonstrated experience using the C & C++ programming languages
• Familiarity with bare-metal microcontroller firmware development
• Fluency in English
• Ability to work remotely

The following skills would be beneficial:

• Assembly-language experience on any microcontroller architecture such as the PIC, AVR, ARM Cortex-M, or MIPS architecture
• Experience in compiler development
• Languages such as Python, Bash, Java, Perl
• Bare-metal embedded-systems concepts such as FreeRTOS and bootloaders
• Experience in Continuous integrations service like Jenkins
