JOB PURPOSE: ABOUT THE ROLE:
Emirates SkyCargo is a world-class air cargo carrier, with a vast network of destinations, cutting-edge facilities, and a focus on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.
As a Compliance & Authorisations Specialist you will be responsible for managing all express and courier customs clearance and trade compliance activities within Emirates Sky Cargo, encompassing legal adherence and trade compliance across Worldwide Sanctions, Embargoes, export controls, ITAR, EAR, Dual-Use Goods, and insurance/financing limitations. The role entails overseeing operational activities, maintaining compliance through controls and authorizations, addressing non-compliance areas via relevant processes, and overseeing both in-house and outsourced teams across various locations to ensure timely decisions are made in the best interest of Sky Cargo’s business and brand reputation.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Control and manage the respective internal and third-party customs clearance and trade compliance teams to ensure right decisions are taken in full coordination with group legal and regulatory bodies.
- Monitor customs clearance and trade compliance performance against an agreed set of KPIs and prepare periodic reports highlighting achievements and disruptions. Where deficiencies occur identify the root cause and recommend sustainable development programs for all.
- Manage compliance system(s), and associated vendor(s) and coordinate with the support team for day to day functions and system enhancement to ensure SkyCargo express requirements are continuously fully protected with the solution(s) provided.
- Design and validate processes for legal and trade compliance as well as reviewing and providing authorisations for express products and commodities.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of corporate policy and required processes, to govern the implementation and management of embargoes and other legal and trade compliance regulations, including customs clearance, export controls, re-exports and dual use goods across the express network.
- Conduct change management processes and risk assessments to support the business requirements with new/changed compliance legislations and authorisations being issued.
- Lead the planning and organisation of resource deployment to ensure that the highest standard of customer service is provided to our express customers.
- Lead and coach the express team in areas related to global regulations, domestic trade regulations, budgetary priorities, and adherence to and improvement of internal customer delivery systems to ensure the team are knowledgeable in all areas.
- Investigate customer complaints relating to customs clearance and trade compliance, ensuring they are professionally managed and that adequate service recovery measures are taken to restore and maintain customer goodwill.
- Communicate with external and internal customers and suppliers, together with regulatory authorities to deliver professional services and products which conform to policies, procedures and regulations to achieve service excellence.
