WHO WE ARE?
The NDIS Commission is an independent agency established to improve the quality and
safety of NDIS supports and services.

We are working with NDIS participants, service providers, workers and the community to so
participants can access services and supports that promote choice, control and dignity.
WHAT WE DO?
The NDIS Commission is the national regulatory authority responsible for upholding the
rights of people with disability accessing the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
We make sure the supports and services participants use to live the life they want, are safe
and offered to the highest possible quality.
The NDIS Commission regulates NDIS providers and monitors compliance with the
NDIS Code of Conduct and NDIS Practice Standards by assessing incidents that occur in the
provision of NDIS services, conducting investigations and undertaking compliance and
enforcement actions.
The NDIS Commission collaborates with state and territory governments, the National
Disability Insurance Agency and other Commonwealth regulatory bodies, such as the
Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, to share information and improve the
quality and safety of NDIS services.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The NDIS Commission’s Regulatory Operations Division is seeking highly motivated and
talented problem solvers to contribute to compliance activities that impact the regulatory
actions of the NDIS Commission. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to contribute to
regulatory actions that will ultimately have a positive impact on the lives of NDIS
participants across Australia. You will be part of a dynamic and supportive team that
NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission 3
develops and implements cutting-edge problem-solving methodologies to tackle complex
challenges within a regulation space. Successful candidates will join the Compliance
Assessment Team within the Regulatory Operations Division.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for this role, applicants must be able to demonstrate that they possess:
- A Certificate IV in Government (Investigations/Regulatory Compliance/Compliance
and Risk Management) or a willingness to undertake and complete Commission
provided training, including Certificate IV in Government
(Investigations/Regulatory Compliance/Compliance and Risk Management) and
other regulatory practice training, as available;
- Experience in using information or evidence gathering powers of the kind available
to the NDIS Commission, and seeking outcomes (administrative; civil; criminal) of
the kind available to the NDIS Commission is desirable but not essesntial;
- Knowledge of the NDIS and an understanding of the role of the NDIS Commission is

Responsibilities:
KEY DUTIES
The successful candidate will undertake the following key duties:
- Work with individual NDIS providers to assist them in understanding their
obligations, and where non-compliance may have occurred, guide them to address
those issues and risks.
- Undertake enquiries, monitoring and analysis to develop compliance responses.
- Monitor incoming incidents affecting the safety and wellbeing of participants to
ensure high-risk or complex incidents are escalated and dealt with expeditiously.
- Identify trends, issues, individuals of concern and inadequate investigations by
service providers, through the assessment and analysis of information gathered
during the management of incidents affecting the safety and wellbeing of
participants.
- Actively contribute to, and participate in, compliance promotion and education
campaigns to inform and educate NDIS providers, participants and the public about
the NDIS Commissioner’s functions and the requirements of relevant legislation and
rules.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with a large and diverse
range of external stakeholders, including state and territory counterparts, service
providers, and regulatory bodies to facilitate the work of the compliance, reportable
incidents and investigations functions, and the NDIS Commission more broadly.
- Prepare complex and/or sensitive correspondence and corporate documentation,
including reports, briefings and submissions to support compliance action.

- Contribute and actively participate in an environment to encourage a learning
culture where expertise can be appropriately shared.
- Have an understanding of vicarious trauma which may occur through conversations
with providers and participants and/or when reading documentation where
distressing information may be disclosed.
