Position: Compliance Manager
Reports to: Director, Participant Services
Department: Participant Services
Location: Remote, US field-based (see location requirements below).

WHO YOU ARE:
CIEE is seeking a qualified professional to serve as the Compliance and Policy Manager for our BridgeUSA J-1 work-based exchange programs. Compliance with program regulations, development of CIEE policies, training of staff, and monitoring of business operations are essential to the successful operation of these programs. The Compliance and Policy Manager ensures that CIEE complies with published regulations, but also leads the industry in meeting the diplomacy intent of these programs. This role works closely with multiple teams within CIEE to identify policies and procedures. The Manager serves as the primary liaison to the Department of State on issues of regulatory compliance and incident/complaint resolution.

Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Act as primary liaison between Work Exchanges and the Department of State, and ensure all regulatory reporting requirements are met.
- Develop written company policies that ensure compliance with Department of State J-1 visa regulations while supporting business requirements.
- Communicate escalated program incidents to the Department of State and manage follow-up resolution with impacted teams.
- Work collaboratively with the business (including the VP, Work Exchange Programs, and various product owners) to achieve regulatory compliance and maintain program integrity, acting as the primary resource for regulatory knowledge.
- Analyze business operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses regarding compliance and identify opportunities for developing policies.
- Interpret regulations and translate them into business requirements.
- Annually, collaborate with program directors to write annual reports for all WEX J-1 programs.
- Maintain required documentation with the Department of State for program designations and maintaining Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) access for SEVIS.
- Provide training to program staff and AROs in areas of compliance, policy, and regulation.
- Monitor SEVIS compliance and work with AROs to ensure data integrity and compliance.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor any escalated related calls or incidents on the 24-hour Emergency Cell Phone on a rotating basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
