JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 3 Years of Experience in Compliance Screening. (Export controls is ideal).
  • University or College degree in International Trade, Commerce or Law from a recognized institution
  • Understanding of Canadian and US export laws, including but not limited to ITAR, EAR the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian exports and imports permits act.
  • Good understanding of anticorruption and due diligence practices policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment and with minimum supervision
  • Able to work on several projects, meet deadlines and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deal with all levels of the organization and external customers.
  • Possess good judgement and the ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Must be detail oriented and flexible and be able to work under pressure.
  • Good understanding of space technology would be a definite asset.
  • Bilingual French / English (Asset)

QUALIFICATIONS PROFESSIONNELLES :

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Manager, Trade Compliance, The Compliance Screening Specialist’s primary goal is to ensure that the company complies with trade controls laws and regulations. This requires monitoring, maintaining and communicating policies and procedures, regular review and research into governing rules and regulations and use company approved third party screening tools to screen for money laundering, terrorist, financing/sanctions risks via name screening and reporting unusual/suspicious cases to MDA’s Legal Contracts & Compliance team.
Responsible for conducting compliance checks and screenings to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies, continuous improvement; anticipates changing customer needs and changes in the regulations; demonstrates vision in advancing tools, technology, processes; well integrated in the community to stay abreast of best practices.
Demonstrate a capability to balance the legal implications of current export legislation with the requirements to ensure that business continues at all times in conformance with law. Requires an ability to find creative solutions to problems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In compliance with the anti Corruption Due Diligence policy, apply the Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Supplier (KYS) principles to identify risks associated with third parties.
  • Interacting and engaging with different stakeholders during the Due Diligence screening Process
  • Monitor, measure, analyze and report on Third party risks.
  • Act as an expert to continuously maintain by verifying the security key controls & Industries best practices when assessing Third Parties.
  • Conduct various Third-Party risk assessments for circumstances, events or risk scenarios that can potentially influence security posture and/or risk profile.
  • Documenting findings and conclusions in line with the prescribed process.
  • Report findings to the Legal, Contracts and Compliance departments in a clear, concise and timely manner.
  • Adhere to all relevant organisational and departmental policies, processes and instructions so that work is carried out to the required standard of service to (internal) customers.
  • Draft, review and revise company export controls and security policies.
  • Monitor departments to ensure compliance with company policy and industry regulations.
  • Participating in continuous improvement of the customer screenings processes.
  • Provide updates to team members and management when regulations change.
  • Train team members to use best practices that align with regulations.
  • In coordination with the Manager and/or MDA`s legal department, carries out tasks related to anti corruption due diligence policies to assure different external parties are properly screened and reliable and update related company policies accordingly.
  • Support with compliance investigations
  • Acts as Alternate Security Officer, (ACSO) and Designated Official (DO) to support certain functions under the Controlled Goods and Industrial Security programs.
  • Liaise with and support other MDA Locations on all tasks related to the role
    The Third party risk specialist may be asked to support export control transactions including but not limited to, export permit and license applications.
