Boeing is seeking a Composite and Bonding Processing Engineer to join our team in Ridley Park, PA.
Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including experienced or senior level engineers.
This person will work closely with other lab engineers and lab technicians in the execution of lab projects benefitting various aerospace aircraft programs and development. The successful candidate will have familiarity with composite processing, standard mechanical test methods and data analysis, failure analysis, microscopy, and materials characterization (TMA, TGA, DSC, HPLC, FTIR etc.).
This position may require occasional domestic and/or international travel. This position may require you to work overtime depending on the scope of work.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- Experience with composite processing, fabrication, or technologies
- Experience using Microsoft Office Products like Outlook, Power Point, Excel, and Word
- Experience collecting, organizing, synthesizing, and analyzing data, then summarizing findings; developing conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience reading requirements documentation
- Experience working in a lab environment
- Failure analysis / destructive testing
- Experience with performance and analysis of mechanical testing
- Knowledge of adhesive materials (such as epoxy, urethane, polyimide, reinforcements, etc.) and processes
EXPERIENCED (LEVEL 3):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct complex analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes.
- Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to business needs.
- Write material test program plans, lab reports, and associated support paperwork per established guidelines and methods, to characterize the materials’ physical, chemical and mechanical properties, processing attributes and safety considerations.
- Lead production of specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes.
- Lead development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements.
- Define requirements for materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and maintenance of products.
- Use project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
- Incorporate environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas
