QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related discipline with 5+ years of experience in aerospace composites.
  • Direct experience with the qualification of new composite materials, processes, or components for aerospace.
  • Strong technical foundation in various resin and fiber combinations and demanding operating environments.
  • Experience with development of static, fatigue and damage tolerance allowables for composite components.
  • Experience with detailed structural analysis of composites through classical and FEA is advantageous.
  • Sound technical knowledge of electric machine design is advantageous.
  • Strong team player, driven to achieve common goals.
  • Hardworking, dependable, self-directed, and self-disciplined.

Responsibilities:

ROLE DESCRIPTION & PRIMARY DUTIES

As a Composite Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and qualification of composite materials & components within magniX products. You will lead the evaluation, testing, and certification of new materials and manufacturing methods. You will be expected to have a sound technical knowledge of various fiber types, resin types, manufacturing methods, and inspection methods. You will also be responsible for writing technical reports and test documentation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be the magniX technical focal for composite component design, manufacture, inspection, and testing.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the technical and regulatory requirements and lead the qualification and certification of composite materials under 14 CFR 33 and the magniX special condition.
  • Coordinate with other departments through the product’s whole life cycle (Quality, Sourcing, Suppliers, Test Labs, etc.).
  • Investigate new applications where weight-efficient composite materials can be used in magniX products, including material property testing and manufacturing support.
  • Lead resolution of technical problems, achieve buy-in from cross-functional teams and provide rationale for decisions.
