Description:

A geneticist position is available at Transversal Translational Medicine (TTM) department headed by Prof. Dr. med. Rejko Krüger. TTM aims to foster biomedical and healthcare technology programmes by facilitating the ability of public and private stakeholders to work translationally, fostering national and international bed-to-bench-to-bed collaborations and thereby acting as a bridge from fundamental over clinical research into the real-world healthcare experience in integrated care networks. The geneticist will provide expertise to support translational, collaborative and multidisciplinary projects for fostering personalized medicine in the Luxembourgish ecosystem and abroad.
We are looking for a highly motivated geneticist will be responsible for the ongoing and future genetic analysis of the Luxembourgish data collected within national cohort programmes, i.e. the National Centre for Excellence in Research on Parkinson’s disease (NCER-PD) consortium as well as associated projects including large-scale genetic data in national and international projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conduct research in genetics and genomics by developing and implementing bioinformatics algorithms and pipelines for genetic data analysis.
  • Analyze genetic data using bioinformatics tools and statistical methods, interpret results and provide insights into genetic mechanisms underlying diseases.
  • Collaborate with researchers and clinicians to translate genetic research into clinical applications.
  • Lead or contribute in multiple projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to align research objectives and resources.
  • Supervision of PhD and Master students.

KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, or a related field with experience in the field of neurogenetics.
  • Experience in the analysis of single-cell transcriptomics and microbiome data.
  • Expertise in bioinformatics and computational biology, with a solid background in statistical analysis and data interpretation.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize large datasets and think critically to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effective time management and prioritization.
  • Proven track record of successful research projects and publications.
  • Language skills: Fluent in English is a must.
