QUALIFICATIONS

You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one of the following:

Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:

  • Performing routine analyses of seized computer related evidence such as magnetic media storage devices and other digital, electronic, and mobile devices;
  • Assisting in criminal investigations requiring detailed computer forensic analysis;
  • Identifying evidence of criminal activity within digital media and electronic devices and documenting those findings.
  • Assisting with the preparing of exhibits for testimony; and
  • Authoring written reports of findings discovered in computer forensic analyses. OR

Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a LL.M., if related. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and activities necessary to do the work. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed graduate level education and experience. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:

  • Performing complex analyses of seized computer related evidence such as magnetic media storage devices and other digital, electronic, mobile devices, drones and vehicles;
  • Performing on scene triage of digital devices such as routers, magnetic media storage devices and other digital, electronic, mobile devices, drones and vehicles;
  • Identifying evidence of criminal activity within digital media and electronic devices and documenting those findings;
  • Authoring written reports of findings discovered in computer forensic analyses; and
  • Testifying as a witness at trial to support evidence found and articulate the findings.

Responsibilities:

DUTIES

As a Computer Forensic Analyst, at the full performance level, you will perform the following duties:

  • Perform complex computer forensics analysis, including imaging, processing and analysis of digital media; locating and identifying evidence of child sexual exploitation, financial, smuggling, public safety, national security, arms and strategic technology, and human smuggling.
  • Inventory, examine, and perform complex analyses of seized computer related evidence such as magnetic media storage devices and random-access memory, other electronic media to include, mobile devices drones and vehicles.
  • Serve as a computer forensic technical expert in criminal investigations.
  • Serve as an expert witness in court proceedings.

Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:

  • Performing routine analyses of seized computer related evidence such as magnetic media storage devices and other digital, electronic, and mobile devices;
