Description:
Das Leibniz-Institut für Zoo- und Wildtierforschung im Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (Leibniz-IZW), Teil der Leibniz-Gemeinschaft, will die Anpassungsfähigkeit von Wildtieren im Kontext des globalen Wandels verstehen und wo möglich verbessern. Dafür untersucht es die Vielfalt der Lebenswesen, Mechanismen evolutionärer Anpassungen und Anpassungsgrenzen inklusive der Krankheiten von Wildtieren in- und außerhalb menschlicher Obhut und ihre Wechselbeziehungen mit Mensch und Umwelt in Deutschland, Europa und Übersee. Das Institut erfüllt diese Aufgabenstellung durch langfristig angelegte, anwendungsorientierte, interdisziplinäre Grundlagenforschung in Evolutionäre Ökologie, Ökologische Dynamik, Evolutionsgenetik, Wildtierkrankheiten, Reproduktionsbiologie und Reproduktionsmanagement.

The Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (Leibniz-IZW) in the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V., a member of the Leibniz Association, aims to understand and, where possible, ‘improve’ the adaptive capacity of wild animals to cope with global change. To this end, it focuses on the diversity of lifestyles, diseases and mechanisms of evolutionary adaptation of mammals and birds, on the limits of these mechanisms in natural and anthropogenically influenced environments, and on conservation strategies that take these into account. The Institute fulfils this mission through long-term, application-oriented, interdisciplinary basic research in evolutionary ecology, ecological dynamics, evolutionary genetics, wildlife diseases, reproductive biology and reproductive management.
For our Department of Evolutionary Genetics and it’s research group “modelling life history evolution”, we are seeking to appoint a
REQUIREMENTS:
- You have successfully completed an apprenticeship as an IT specialist, specializing in application development or system integration, as a technical systems IT specialist, IT systems administrator or IT systems electronics technician and/or a comparable university degree with equivalent skills and corresponding activities.
- Excellent knowledge of English and German (written and spoken);
- experience in R programming and data manipulation;
- good interpersonal and communication skills;
- willingness to familiarize with scientific topics independently.
- No comprehensive knowledge in programming and statistics is required, but you must be able to work in autonomy and be creative to tackle tasks beyond the most basic ones;
- Knowledge of biological science will be an advantage.
