Job Purpose:
The Senior Manager, Congress and Events, APAC, will lead the strategic planning, development, and execution of congresses and events for the Asia-Pacific region. This role will enhance Alcon’s brand visibility, fostering stakeholder engagement, and facilitating knowledge exchange within the ophthalmic medical device and equipment industry. The Senior Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all events are executed to the highest standards, aligning with the company’s strategic objectives and compliance guidelines through effective liaison and coordination with external providers.
Providers: Establish and maintain productive relationships with external agencies, suppliers, and vendors to ensure high-quality event execution, from logistics to content delivery.
Stakeholder Engagement: Drive engagement initiatives with key stakeholders, including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), industry partners, and internal teams, to maximise the impact and value of each event. Budget Management and Administrative Oversight: Oversee the budget for congresses and events, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for optimal return on investment. Manage all administrative tasks, including securing approvals, processing purchase orders, and ensuring compliance with financial practices.
Compliance and Best Practices: Guarantee that all event activities adhere to local and international regulatory requirements, industry standards, and ethical guidelines.
Education: Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree; Desirable: MBA
Languages: Fluency in English, other languages are a plus

Experience:

  • Proven track record in congress and event management within the healthcare, pharmaceutical, or medical device industries, with a preference for experience in the ophthalmology sector.
  • Demonstrable success in orchestrating large-scale, international events across diverse cultural contexts, particularly in the APAC region, through effective collaboration with external providers.
  • Solid experience in budget management, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation with agencies and vendors.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory and compliance landscape affecting the medical device and equipment industries in the APAC region.

  • External Provider Management: Skilled in liaising and coordinating with external agencies, suppliers, and vendors to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional skills in engaging and building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including internal stakeholders, KOLs, HCPs, and industry partners.
  • Operational and Financial Acumen: Proficiency in managing budgets, negotiating contracts, and overseeing logistics to deliver outstanding event experiences efficiently.
  • Adaptability and Problem-Solving: High level of adaptability to navigate the dynamic healthcare landscape, with a proactive approach to solving challenges and leveraging opportunities.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and preferably one other APAC regional language.
