Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Congressional Affairs Analyst to join our team in Navy Yard Washington, DC.

BASIC QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred: Bachelor’s degree in communications / journalism).
  • 5 years of professional experience in congressional liaison and public Affairs.
  • Experience preparing and conducting annual reviews of defense appropriations and authorizations.
  • Experience preparing responses to Congressional, DOD, other Government agency
  • Experience in the Navy and specifically within the DON acquisition community (preferred),
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suites, particularly Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational, and written / verbal communication skills
    Security Clearance Requirements: US Citizen with Active Secret

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. Often positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing client support in admin, research, policy, strategic comms, congressional to the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS)
  • Tracking weekly congressional documentation and periodicals, providing daily updates to the Public Affairs Office (PAO), and assisting with the development of annual congressional briefing reviews.
  • Tracking and disseminating all congressional activity related to the PEO IWS portfolio.
  • Monitoring congressional taskers as assigned by client, verifying responses to the taskers are drafted clearly and concisely, and identifying any discrepancies for Program Office review and resolution
  • Developing and editing draft written materials (e.g., PowerPoint briefs, speeches, letters) intended for dissemination to the Congress.
  • Reviewing and analyzing news stories, congressional reports, and legislation to provide updates and synopses
  • Supporting the Public Affairs team in advising the PEO IWS senior leaders in congressional affairs.
  • Preparing responses and briefing documents to Requests for Information (RFIs), Questions for the Record (QFRs), and Reports to Congress
