DESIRED COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Five (5) years’ post-qualification crane operation experience in mining or oilfield building and construction , with preference given to those with experience working on a remote site with limited access to resources;
  • Valid Crane Operator Certification required;
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent required; and
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform safe operation of mobile cranes to move, position or place equipment and materials;
  • Operate cranes mounted on boats or barges to lift, move, and place equipment and materials;
  • Responsible for maintaining logbooks, crane certifications and lift plans;
  • Calculate crane capacities and determine load weight;
  • Set up and dismantle crane and position/stabilize the crane;
  • Communicate clearly & effectively through the use of radio, hand signals, and/or other systems;
  • Perform pre-operational and post-operational inspection of equipment to ensure safety & effective operation which includes calculating crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting; Advise supervisor of any deficiencies;
  • Operate pile driving cranes to drive pilings into earth to provide support for buildings and other structures;
  • Test, clean, lubricate, and assist in routine maintenance of equipment as necessary and document any maintenance/repair work needing to be completed;
  • Responsible for ensuring and maintaining adequate rigging supplies;
  • Participate in safety toolbox talks and follow all site policies & procedures to ensure compliance; and
  • Duties may include operating other machinery as required.
