Our New Leighton Hospital Campus is a once in a generation opportunity to transform the district health and care model for the future.
This job role requires a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual; will be to lead the Technical Workstream and manage and lead a large team of in house and external design and construction professionals through design, procurement, and construction.
The Construction Director will work closely with the Programme Director and manage excellent relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, and suppliers.
The post holder will be responsible for leading the creation of a state-of-the-art new hospital designed to deliver a clinically led, digitally driven model of care to the Trust’s patients and their families.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of hospital and community services for people across East Cheshire (population 399K) and West Cheshire and Chester (population 357K). Job Description
The main objective for the Construction Director will be to lead the Technical Workstream for our New Leighton Hospital Campus.

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

Lead the design and procurement of the construction works and ensure these are properly documented in appropriate contracts.
Lead the coordination and management of specialist design and construction advisers.
Control and manage the capital budget and expenditure for the redevelopment as set out in the capital forms in the business case
Work with the project team and user representatives to ensure timely and effective engagement in the user design stages.
Ensure a high level of coordination with the digital strategy for the new hospital and create a “smart hospital” capable of adapting to digital innovation.
Coordinate the procurement, delivery and installation of all furniture, fittings and equipment (including all medical equipment).
Drive the assessment of value engineering opportunities to achieve contract commitments within agreed budgets
Develop and manage a design and construction programme for the project to timescales agreed with the Trust Board and the New Hospital Programme.
Ensure effective communication and engagement.
Lead the client-side implementation and delivery of new Leighton Hospital design and the construction works.
Lead the agreement of the construction contract with the main contractor.
Ensure that there is compliance with contract requirements.
Manage any design and construction claims, disputes and change arising.
Implement and manage health and safety in compliance with national requirements and legislation.
Minimise disruption to the Trust’s clinical services during the delivery of the construction works.
Brief the Programme Director and Trust Boards on the progress of the works, budget status and any key issues that may require escalation.
Contribute to delivery of the Trust’s strategic objectives and business drivers.
The post holder will be a full and participating member of all tiers of the project governance framework, and single point of contact for all matters relating to the design and construction elements of the new hospital.
