Description:

JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost and materials required for asphalt paving projects. This role requires a strong understanding of asphalt materials, construction processes, and the ability to interpret project plans and specifications. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

REQUIREMENTS:

Proven experience as an Asphalt Estimator or similar role in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of asphalt materials, construction methods, and industry standards.
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office suite.
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
Effective communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and safety standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification in construction estimating or related field.
Familiarity with project management principles and software.

Responsibilities:

Project Evaluation: Review project plans, specifications, and site conditions to understand project requirements and constraints.
Cost Estimation: Utilize estimating software and historical data to accurately calculate the cost of materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses required for asphalt paving projects.
Material Quantification: Calculate the quantities of asphalt, base materials, and other required components based on project specifications and site measurements.
Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials and services, negotiate pricing, and coordinate deliveries and services as needed.
Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and competitive bids for asphalt paving projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements.
Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide recommendations regarding project scope, materials, and cost-saving opportunities.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with each project and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of project estimates, bids, correspondence, and other relevant documentation.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure seamless project execution and successful project delivery.
Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in asphalt paving estimation to continuously improve estimating processes and outcomes.
