Job description
Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Construction HSSE Lead, based in Norway.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing the Published Plans and contracts to ensure that suitable HSSE controls are in place or are able to be implemented during the construction, installation, hook up and commissioning phases of the installation.
  • Be a visible and respected HSSE leader on site, who promotes a strong safety culture, with significant site time who energizes the Site Team.
  • Promote HSSE awareness throughout the project, emphasizing excellence, continuous improvement and corrective action to influence the overall success of the project.
  • Reinforce the company’s HSSE requirements to the Delivery Team and EPC Contractor.
  • Ensure Contractor effectively implements its Project HSSE Plan and conforms to the terms and conditions in the contract.
  • Evaluate the HSSE performance of the Contractor and Site Team using agreed KPI’s and other means, and drive improvement opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate and interface with the Construction Manager, Project HSSE Lead, Contractor Leadership and Contractor Workers.
  • Lead the review of Contractor Project HSSE Plan, Emergency Response Plan and Safe Work Procedures and all pertained HSSE documentation prior to commencement of any fabrication / construction work.
  • Assist with planning and delivery of HSE Leadership Engagements at the Yard.
  • Participate in Contractors HSSE reviews and audits.
  • Utilise the EPC validation process to assure adequate controls are in place and performed and / or develop LOD1 using the company process material where these are inadequate.
  • Develop and implement the Delivery Team HSSE plan, assist with Delivery Team competence assurance activities (including development and performance of HSSE training for Delivery Team members and visitors).
  • Provide assurance of quality and competence of site Construction Safety resources.
  • Support Construction Safety planning and execution of construction, integration, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Mature understanding of incident case management and reporting.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Meets the company’s Operational HSSE competence profile (Lead Practitioner)
  • Demonstrated leadership & Management behaviours & experience
  • OHST certification (or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in Oil & Gas, with Relevant Years in direct Construction HSSE Role.
  • Ability to understand the underlying issues associated with incidents and to develop plans to ensure continuous improvement and focus is maintained.
  • Able to perform, comply, audit and make assessments of Safety Management System (Advance Safety Auditing, Behavior Safety System, LET, JSA’s, act) and have competency in safety procedures.
  • Working knowledge of construction safety processes, preparation and execution practices.
  • Able to interface with other disciplines at the various stages of a project
  • Must be organized and able to multi-task.
  • Self-disciplined and self-motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and can work well with people at all levels of the Project / Site construction organization.
  • Strategic thinking capability, with strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Able to use computer and programs (email, word processing and spreadsheets as a minimum) for general business applications.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with both individuals and groups.
  • Able to provide oversight, mentorship and supervision.
