Description:

CONSTRUCTION LAWYER

The Construction Lawyer is responsible in providing legal support in drafting, reviewing and independently negotiating complex contracts in relation to major construction projects including contractor, subcontractor, supply and service contracts.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-year minimum professional experience in the construction industry; with a master degree in law from an accredited law school.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite and e-mail.
  • Ability to conduct negotiations and contract reviews.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, creative, honest and self-reliant personality, critical thinking, pragmatic and strong project management skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced knowledge of industry specific regulations.
  • Ability to review contracts for scope and bid amount accuracies as well as qualifications.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish processes where no precedent or guidelines exist.
  • Understands deadlines and demonstrates mastery in self-discipline to stay on task.
  • Strong customer relation skills.
  • High ethical standards.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities:

DUTIES:

  • Managing disputes with suppliers and customers as well as insurance matters.
  • Implementing general contracting and compliance guidelines.
  • Monitoring and supporting project execution from a legal point of view, including drafting and negotiating change/variation order requests, claims for additional compensation, notification of hindrances etc.
  • Drafting general terms and conditions.
  • Giving legal training to Sales and Operations Department.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
