YOUR OPPORTUNITY

Due to our continued growth, we are currently seeking expressions of Interests from Construction Managers with a FIFO Concrete background to positively influence project delivery and promote a memorable culture.
Reporting to the Project Manager, your overall responsibility is to provide onsite leadership coordination and oversite of the construction workforce including direct labour, subcontractors, and plant, ensuring all construction works are executed safely, efficiently, and effectively meeting client, HSE, quality, time, budget, and contractual requirements. You will be the Project Manager’s back-to-back. These roles are working on a 2/1 FIFO rosters to our remote project sites in Western Australia.

As a Construction Manager, you will be accountable for:

  • Supporting Project management to champion a culture of high performance onsite
  • Demonstrating strong and visible leadership skills through your behaviours, effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Contribute to the manning schedule to ensure adequately skilled and qualified candidates are planned for the project and take lead on the technical aspects of the job requirements during interviews
  • Support the Project Manager/Construction Manager in the design and delivery of work program(s), including participation in weekly reviews
  • Ensure agreed work program requirements are met for each component of the project and report variances to Project Manager
  • Be able to complete own procurement/labour/plant resourcing
  • Participate in safety investigations, implementing any actions and relevant learnings
  • Proactively manage employee Supervisor’s performance and conduct thorough performance discussions
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the Contract to ensure ongoing compliance with the scope of work, specifications, drawings and subcontracts
  • Monitoring and controlling costs within your remit, particularly direct costs of plant and labour ensuring optimisation of available resources
  • Effective communication, information flows, procedures and records necessary to facilitate delivery of contract and quality requirements
  • Managing QC testing making sure it is conducted as per client’s specification
  • Ensuring Whittens project specific Quality Management and Construction Management plans are complied with
  • Ensuring that there is no deviation from drawings and relevant specifications without prior approval from Project Manager and/or the Client

To be successful, you will have the following:

  • Previous experience as a Civil Superintendent overseeing similar large scale construction projects
  • Demonstrated experience working in a FIFO/DIDO capacity
  • Excellent planning, monitoring and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated safety and environmental leadership behaviour
  • Self-starter, with well-developed organisational and stakeholder management skills
  • Flexible and able to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills with the ability to problem solve
