Description:
MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Construction Safety Officer for our client, one of Canada’s most iconic high-rise developer-builders.
The Construction Safety Officer will be a highly skilled and motivated individual responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety across the client’s projects. They will work with diverse teams to enforce safety policies, procedures, and best practices and will play a crucial role in identifying potential hazards, conducting regular inspections, and delivering comprehensive safety training to all staff members.
Requirements:
- Possess a diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline.
- Hold a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Construction Safety Officer, ideally in the real estate or construction sector.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of local safety regulations and industry standards.
- Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage effectively with stakeholders across various levels.
- Demonstrate a track record of conducting comprehensive inspections, evaluating risks, and implementing proactive measures.
- Possessing Occupational First Aid certifications and construction-specific safety training programs would be an asset.
- Display familiarity with safety management software and tools
Responsibilities:
- Formulate and execute safety plans tailored to each site, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Perform routine inspections to identify possible dangers and proactively implement measures to reduce risks.
- Offer guidance and assistance to project teams, subcontractors, and workers regarding safety protocols and procedures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, delivering comprehensive reports with actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct safety orientation and training initiatives for newly hired employees and subcontractors.
- Remain up-to-date on industry trends, emerging regulations, and advancements in safety practices.
