Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As Site Superintendent, you are responsible for the management of work onsite to ensure compliance of all construction drawings, specifications, and safety regulations; which requires continuous monitoring of the ongoing progression of the project. The position also includes planning and implementing the project schedule, determining manpower needed and material quantities to ensure proper equipment and trades are available when requested.

EDUCATION

  • Construction degree / diploma
  • Five (5) to eight (8) years’ experience or equivalent training and experience

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills
  • Able to effectively hold others accountable for quality and performance
  • Possesses strong interpersonal, verbal, written and electronic communication skills
  • Knowledge of workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation in relation to the construction industry
  • Exceptional time management to prioritize activities and allocate resources effectively
  • Commitment to recognizing and mitigating risks
  • High degree of integrity, honesty and ethics
  • Ability to solve problems efficiently and resolve any on site disputes between trades effectively
  • Commitment to working in a team environment, with established team building abilities
  • Strong communication, integration, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Superior leadership qualities with a demonstrated track record of dealing successfully with all customers
  • General building construction experience, understanding the means and methods of construction, scheduling and cost control procedures, general contracts, sub trades documents, reading of drawings, and specifications.
  • Valid G License

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, effectively direct and control daily operations on job site
  • Monitor progress and provide updates to senior management
  • Enforce and implement policies and procedures of construction & safety
  • Responsible to review subcontractors scope of work and schedule
  • Provide high quality work in a timely manner while managing and exceeding client expectations and assumptions
  • Facilitate site meetings with clients and trades
  • Perform quality control walk-throughs and inspections
  • Co-ordinate building inspections as required by the municipality
  • Liaise with clients, designers, and trades as required
  • Conform to and enforce all health and safety policies
  • Occasional hands on execution and coaching for junior staff
