Description:

SUMMARY

Working with the Operations Manager, the Superintendent is responsible for providing a positive client experience, professional relationships with Architects, Engineers and Building Officials. On – site responsibility to develop and maintain positive working relationships with Marsh/Bell Project Manager, sub-contractors and vendors. Daily Job site management of project sites to control health, safety, quality, coordination, schedule progress to deliver the designed project per plans and specifications.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant Construction supervisory experience.
  • Valid South Carolina Driver’s License required.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of appropriate safety procedures and be able to respond in emergency situations.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Use of iPad and integrated Project Management Systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and sense of urgency, ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality and accuracy of work.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.
  • Average ability to read and write, and mathematic skills.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to tolerate changes in outside temperature from winter to summer and tolerate dust, pollen, wind and rain.
  • Ability to walk on uneven or steep ground.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Job Site Management:
  • Review all shop drawings, vendor drawings and construction drawings for errors, inconsistencies, and missing information. Issue formal RFI’s to obtain clarifications.
  • Review all scopes of works and contracts to ensure the project has been contracted correctly to allow for construction
  • Prepare a 2 week look ahead schedule
  • Attend weekly job site meetings led by Project Manager with all Subcontractors
  • Obtain the communication plan developed with your project manager for all communications to Client, Architects and Engineer.
  • Document all activities in the Daily Log, take pictures to show progress or document discrepancies.
  • Coordinate and supervise the mobilization and de-mobilization efforts
  • Ensure the delivery of all equipment, material, manpower, tools, supplies, scaffolding, etc. to the job as coordinated by the Project Manager.
  • Perform all efforts required to complete the job as instructed by the Project Manager.
  • Maintain project site hours, be on site whenever Subcontractors or major deliveries occur and report to work on time.
  • Prepare initial punch list, coordinate completion and at completion request punch list from Operations Manager.
  • Maintain regular and sustained attendance.
  • Follow all company policies and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned, example completing some direct project scopes of work

QUALITY CONTROL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all preparation and cleaning efforts are completed and to personally inspect these efforts upon completion, making sure they meet the highest quality standards. All work areas will be cleaned, and debris removed daily.
  • Enforce highest quality control with sub-contractors, to minimize or eliminate call backs.
  • Check materials and installations against plans and specifications for compliance. All non-compliance should be reported to the Project Manager at time of receipt or installation.

SAFETY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the Company Safety Program is always observed and implemented on all job sites.
  • Ensure there is coordination of all on site activities, even if not under our contract. Example would be owners’ scope or Municipalities bringing in Utilities. Do not take responsibility for this work, but make sure someone is and it is coordinated.
  • Wear necessary protective equipment and exercise extreme safety in tool, equipment, and vehicle operations.
  • Keep all work areas clean and free of debris.
  • Ensure a first aid kit is always available for the treatment of minor injuries.
  • Secure prompt medical attention for any injured employee despite how minor an injury may appear.
  • Report all injuries and near misses to the Operation Manager immediately.
  • Watch for tiered subcontractors, as our core Subcontractors know our expectations. Their subcontractors likely do not understand site requirements. Ask in weekly meetings for who those may be a require safety indoctrinations prior to coming on site.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in overseeing the correction of all unsafe work practices or conditions.
  • Attend all company safety meetings.
