Description:

This is an exciting opportunity for suitable candidates to apply for a specialised histopathology Consultant position at Liverpool Clinical Laboratories, which is part of Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust.
Liverpool Clinical Laboratories wish to appoint a substantive Consultant in Cellular Pathology with special interests in Thoracic and Gastrointestinal Pathology. An interest in and willingness to contribute to the post mortem service and post mortem training would be greatly welcomed. We are a well established and successful tertiary referral centre with regional and national repute. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of our service in a friendly and stimulating environment. The cellular pathology service is one of the hubs of the Cheshire and Merseyside cellular pathology network, is the main training centre for cellular pathology trainees and has strong academic links with University of Liverpool. All of this coupled with the recent move to purpose built new laboratory facilities on site and full roll out of digital pathology makes this the perfect time to be joining our dynamic and expanding department.
The appointees will have a significant commitment to the indicated subspecialty where close collaboration exists between clinicians and pathologists.
Applicants seeking full time (10 PAs) or less than full time are encouraged to apply. Flexible and home working is supported by teams.
The successful applicant will be involved in the whole range of diagnostic work for the respective subspecialty and will also have an opportunity to contribute to teaching and training of junior medical staff and biomedical scientists and to research.
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.
The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.
