Summary of Role & Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a highly motivated Consultant I to support our ESG & Mandatory Reporting business line to support projects within the ESG Transactions & Sustainable Finance service offerings. Your role will be to work with clients to prioritize, evaluate and improve their ESG performance through strategic, programmatic and disclosure recommendations; as well as, support project and client managers in conducting primary and secondary research and analysis. Your projects and clients may span a diverse set of industries, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to boutique brands and start-ups. You will leverage our service teams and subject matter experts to ensure clients receive our best solutions and technical advice. You will be joining an engaged, collaborative community that approaches its work with energy and optimism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support project and client managers in conducting primary and secondary research and analysis on sustainability and ESG practices, and emerging issues and trends in a variety of industry sectors utilizing a wide range of sources, including web searches, interviews and other methodologies
  • Work with financial sector and corporate clients to prioritize, evaluate and improve their ESG performance through strategic, programmatic and disclosure recommendations
  • Support investment firms in private markets by conducting ESG due diligence ahead of major investments and acquisitions. Support responsible investment initiatives by working with portfolio companies and ESG teams post-close to create value through sustainable performance
  • Deliver tasks on time and within budget and assist project managers to ensure that projects perform against targets and deadlines
  • Support senior colleagues in the development of work plans, schedules and budgets for the delivery of client projects and proposals
  • Draft reports and presentations that convey key messages to a variety of stakeholders and inform strategic decision-making
  • Work on several projects at the same time, often with different clients on multiple workstreams, including CDP reporting and rater and ranker disclosures
  • Support financial sector and corporate clients in gathering data and information and translating key sustainability messages into mediums for different target audiences (e.g., investor reporting frameworks, ESG rater and ranker platforms, customer surveys, employees, annual CSR/ESG reports etc.
  • Work with financial sector and corporate clients to prioritize, evaluate and improve their ESG performance through strategic, programmatic and disclosure recommendations
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and networking events
  • Additional areas of engagement could include:
  • Investment strategy and portfolio due diligence
  • Governance, reporting, and disclosure
  • Net zero carbon, circular business models, and zero waste programs
  • Equity, diversity, inclusion, justice, and community engagement programs
  • Multi-stakeholder collaborations and/or NGO partnerships

Key Requirements & Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject(s) or two years relevant experience
  • Experience working with data sets and demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and communicate findings
  • Demonstrable passion for, and commitment to improving sustainability
  • A willingness to learn new skills and work collaboratively with others in a dynamic work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working with both internal and external clients
  • Clear and concise written communications
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Proven research and analytical skills (from academia or work experience), with proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to think and work independently, while also being an enthusiastic and proactive team player
  • Well-presented with a professional manner to act as a brand ambassador
  • Support projects within the Reporting & Disclosure and/or the ESG Program Design and Implementation service offerings
  • Work with clients to prioritize, evaluate and improve their ESG performance through strategic, programmatic and disclosure recommendations;
  • Focus on CDP reporting and other rater/ranker disclosures
  • Governance reporting and disclosure
  • Investment strategy and portfolio due diligence
