Description:

ERM is seeking a motivated Consultant, Field Technician (Environmental), to join our consulting firm in Walnut Creek, CA. The Environmental Technician will be responsible for carrying out routine environmental tasks associated with site assessment and remediation projects as well environmental compliance tasks and will report to the Walnut Creek office. The selected individual must be able to work with minimal supervision, learn quickly, and possess excellent problem-solving skills. Environmental field technicians should have good verbal and written communication skills, research and investigative skills, and strong reading comprehension skills to understand technical documents. Field tasks include operation and maintenance of environmental systems (e.g. groundwater extraction and treatment systems, soil vapor extraction, etc.), soil, soil vapor, groundwater, wastewater, and stormwater sampling, site inspections, housekeeping, stormwater management, air monitoring, etc. This role will perform standard work in compliance with company policies, procedures, and local regulations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 2+ years of environmental experience
  • Basic technology and math skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel, including some overnights, as needed
  • OSHA 40hr HAZWOPER training a plus
  • Basic technology and math skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, capable of working aloft
  • Ability to successfully complete required safety training
  • Ability to work assigned schedules and extended hours including day, evening, and weekends
    For the Consultant, Field Technician (Environmental) position, we anticipate the hourly base pay of $33.00 – $36.50 USD. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting, testing, repairing, and servicing technical equipment
  • Knowledge of basic hand tool use.
  • Pump installation and troubleshooting
  • Perform groundwater monitoring and remediation system operation and maintenance tasks
  • Jobsite housekeeping
  • Perform soil and groundwater sampling
  • Perform soil vapor pin, and soil vapor probe installation and sampling
  • Perform stormwater monitoring
  • Perform air monitoring
  • Producing detailed field reports, and documenting field processes
  • Operating vehicles and equipment in a safe manner
  • Following company procedures and protocols
  • Making appropriate recommendations and briefing on repairs, diagnostics, and equipment specifications
  • Contractor oversight
