Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist, West Cork Mental Health Services

This is an appointment to the Community Healthcare Organisation 4 on Public Only Consultant Contract 2023 (as per standard text issued by the HSE) by the Health Service Executive. The initial commitment for this post will be to MHS Cork North Lee for 37 hours per week. This post may be subject to restructuring in the future to facilitate the reorganization of acute services in line with new clinical models of acute and community services. It is noted that the post must be congruent with the requirements of, and facilitate implementation of national health policy, the HSE’s National Clinical Programmes including commitment to deliver the relevant performance outcomes.
West Cork Mental Health Services covers a population of 56,892.
Acute inpatient services are delivered at the Centre for Mental Health Care and Recovery, Bantry General Hospital.
Elderly Care, Psychiatry of Old Age services are provided throughout the service with a number of continuing care beds in Perrott House, Saol Nua and Ardrealt Hostel.
In addition Community orientated services are provided through Day Centre and outlying outpatient clinic in the community throughout West Cork. Services are currently being reconfigured having regard to revised organisation arrangements on National Policy ‘A Vision for Change’.
In line with the significant programme of reform currently underway in Community Healthcare Organisation Cork and Kerry, the location and commitment of service delivery within this post may change.
