Description:

Are you seeking a fresh and thrilling opportunity? We would be delighted to offer you a place in our Cellular Pathology team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.
We are seeking 3x Consultant Cellular Pathologists to join our team of seven consultants primarily based at Peterborough City Hospital. These posts were created in response to increasing workload within the Cellular Pathology department.
You must have full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview). Applicants that are UK trained, must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
The departmental workload includes large amounts of breast, gastrointestinal, gynaecological, urological, and skin pathology. An interest in one or more of these areas is desirable, although any special interest usually found in a district general hospital may be accommodated.
Generalist reporting skills are essential and cross cover for multidisciplinary team meetings will be required.
We respect your wellbeing, and we are open to flexibility in your working patterns should you wish to work more flexible hours and/or less than full time.
The sessional commitments allocated for this role are of 10 PAs (SPA = 1.5 and DCC = 8.5)

Responsibilities:

Contribute to the histology workload of the department. Contribution to the non-cervical cytopathology and autopsy workloads is desirable but not essential
Take responsibility for leading the pathology contribution to one or more cancer multidisciplinary team meetings.
Provide cover, with the other consultant histopathologists, for annual, study and professional leave.
Provide a consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues and other professional groups within the trust.
Liaise with medical staff and clinical teams in other specialities, participate in the regular clinical and multidisciplinary team meetings, and other postgraduate activities of the trust.
Participate in the teaching, audit, and other professional activities of the department.
Participate in departmental and trust clinical governance programmes and provide evidence of appraisal and revalidation.
Participate in the Royal College of Pathologists’ continuing professional development (CPD) programme, or equivalent.
North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust provides acute care to our local communities via two District General Hospitals in Peterborough and Huntingdon, and a community hospital in Stamford.
We are promoting flexible working and a health work/home life balance. Agile working options are automatically considered for all roles within the Trust.
We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from disabled, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and candidates from our local communities.
Your package with us includes a lot more than just your pay and here are a few of the additional benefits that are available to you as an employee:
Relocation allowance in line with the Trust policy
Access to the NHS Pension Scheme
Generous Holiday Entitlement, starting at 27 days a year (for full time workers) plus bank/public holidays
Free staff car parking on all our hospital sites during this financial year

Cellular pathology services in Hinchingbrooke Hospital are provided by Peterborough Hospital. The Hinchingbrooke cellular pathology service was repatriated to Peterborough in March 2020. Digital Histopathology reporting went live at NWAFT for all specialties and histopathologists in September 2020 and is currently fully accredited by UKAS.
