Description:

Applications are invited for a Consultant Cardiologist with a special interest in Electrophysiology for Medicine and Emergency Care in East Sussex Hospitals Trust.
This is an exciting time to join a progressive and dynamic cardiology department with supportive colleagues, working together to improve the cardiac health of our diverse local population.
We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our team and work to deliver consultant led, efficient, safe and patient centred best practice in Cardiology Intervention. The successful applicant would be joining a busy, forward-thinking cardiology department which is continuously looking to innovate and improve services. There is a very comprehensive interventional EP service and device implantation service. Currently there are 2 electrophysiologists performing approximately 450 EP procedures per year of which 50% were AF ablation procedures. Approximately 100 AF ablation cases are performed using cryoablation. Both CARTO3 V7 and EnSite Precision mapping systems are used frequently to assist complex procedures. In the same period, there were approximately 700 device procedures, including CRT and ICDs. All types of ablation are undertaken including atrial tachycardia, flutter and fibrillation as well as VT ablation including the epicardial VT approach. EP research is very active in the department with ESHT as the lead site for a multi-centre NIH portfolio study in addition to several other studies.
This is a new post for a Consultant Cardiologist with a special interest in
Electrophysiology for Medicine and Emergency Care in East Sussex Hospitals Trust.
The post-holder will join a team of nine other Cardiologists (with plans for
further consultant expansion) and will be part of the development of a multidisciplinary team approach to care within the specialty of cardiology.
It also provides an exciting opportunity for an appropriately trained candidate to further develop advanced subspecialty skills at a suitable tertiary centre.
This is a cross-site appointment. It is envisaged that the post-holder’s work will take place at both Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne District General Hospital.
