Description:
Duties & Responsibilities Provision with Consultant colleagues of a comprehensive Emergency Medicine service to Staffordshire, Derbyshire & surrounding areas. Responsible for the care & treatment of patients in your charge & personal performance of clinical duties as agreed in your job plan, allowing for all proper delegation to, & training of your staff. Provision of an out of hours service with your Consultant colleagues including on-call rota commitments, as indicated in the enclosed job plan. Provision of cover for your Consultant colleagues during reasonable periods of leave.
Responsible for the professional supervision, training & management of junior medical staff, carrying out teaching, examination & accreditation duties as required & contributing to postgraduate & continuing medical education activity locally, regionally & nationally as appropriate. Participate in & co-ordinate clinical audit under local arrangements in accordance with the Trust Clinical Governance Framework & Trust obligations. Responsible for compliance with personal continuing professional development requirements with the support of the Trust. Responsible for maintaining awareness of professional guidelines & acting in accordance with them.
Responsible for implementing the Infection Control Policies as determined by University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. An exceptional requirement to undertake additional duties for limited periods out-with the current job plan and/or within the geographical area specified above or undertake duties at other hospitals, in the event of a Major Disaster or Incident. Participate in managerial functions as & when necessary as part of a MDT.
