Description:
The Trust is seeking a full time Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Inpatient services in Swindon. This post has arisen due to the current incumbent retiring.
Applewood ward is a 15 bedded single sex ward (male) on the Sandalwood Court Hospital site. The ward provides care to adults of working age who need urgent treatment towards recovery from acute mental health crises.
The ward also supports service user recovery by developing relapse prevention plans and offering advice and support.
The post is supported by a 1.0 WTE Specialty Doctor and three Doctors in Training; one core trainee in psychiatry, one Foundation year 1 and one Foundation year 2 doctor. The post holder will act as the Responsible Clinician for patients admitted to Applewood.
As the ward Consultant you will provide psychiatrist assessment and treatment of acute psychiatrist inpatients.
deliver direct interventions to Inpatients including assessment, diagnoses and treatment of mental and physical health needs.
supervise the medical team that provides medical care and act as RC for detained Inpatients.
Collaboratively work with the Intensive teams to provide dedicated lead Consultant input to acute care service coordination by meeting the needs of the service user Inpatient services and enabling timely discharge with robust CPA planning and after care arrangements.
Contribute to the development of acute care services in line with best practice and nationally accredited standards.
