Description:

This new post comes during a period of Health Board-wide service reviews, including a comprehensive reconfiguration of services within the Division of Medicine across the health board. The appointee will be based at the Royal Gwent Hospital (RGH), Newport, responsible primarily for effective service delivery within General Internal Medicine services on the RGH site with the support of consultant colleagues.
This post has been created to facilitate the ongoing reconfiguration and expansion plans for the GIM needs in line with increasing demands. The post holders will be actively involved in the ongoing development of services, with full and appropriate agreement with the appointee and clinical director.
A comprehensive General Medicine, Care of the Elderly and Acute Medicine service in the Borough of Gwent
Participate in an Adult Acute Medicine intake
Participate in a sub-specialty interest
Support the training of medical staff, nurses and other members of the MDT
To provide effective leadership to medical trainees & multidisciplinary staff members
To develop Quality Improvement Process, teaching and research within the organisation

This position involves Regulated Activity with children and adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer an adults and children’s barred list check
Applicants must hold full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC
Candidates for Consultant posts must also be on the GMC Specialist Register (including via CESR/European Community Rights) or will have a CCT/CESR(CP) date within 6 months of interview
